Goals

Building on the goals established during ISVG's development, the organisation seeks to strengthen recognition of voluntary service and Scouting-inspired values within communities; create meaningful opportunities for international participation and knowledge exchange; promote lifelong education; strengthen social responsibility and volunteerism; and contribute to community development and relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As ISVG develops beyond its original Scout-leader network, these goals also provide a foundation for connecting professional expertise, accumulated experience and voluntary service with younger generations and communities.

Strategic Objectives

To advance these goals, ISVG will focus on the following strategic objectives:

  • Preserve and Transfer Knowledge — Create mechanisms through which experienced Scout leaders, active and retired professionals, specialists and other knowledge holders can transfer their expertise to younger generations and communities.
  • Promote Lifelong Learning — Develop learning opportunities that enable people to continue acquiring and sharing knowledge throughout their lives, including the progressive development of the ISVG Open University concept.
  • Strengthen Volunteerism and Community Service — Encourage members and country organisations to transform knowledge, skills and experience into meaningful voluntary action responsive to community needs.
  • Develop Leadership and Responsible Citizenship — Promote ethical leadership, integrity, discipline, responsibility and the capacity of individuals to contribute constructively to society.
  • Engage and Empower Younger Generations — Create opportunities for young people and emerging professionals to learn from experienced individuals, participate in international exchange and develop confidence, competence and social responsibility.
  • Expand International Knowledge Exchange — Use ISVG's global network and digital technologies to connect people, expertise and learning opportunities across countries, professions and cultures.
  • Strengthen Country and Regional Networks — Support sustainable ISVG structures that can identify local needs, mobilise expertise, implement programmes and connect national activities with the wider international network.
  • Build Strategic Collaboration — Develop constructive relationships with Scout organisations, educational and research institutions, professional bodies, civil society, development partners and other organisations sharing complementary objectives.
  • Support Sustainable Development — Encourage programmes and voluntary action that contribute, where relevant, to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and wider community development priorities.
  • Build a Sustainable Global Knowledge Platform — Progressively develop the institutional, digital and educational systems required to preserve knowledge, connect experts with learners and make ISVG's international network sustainable for future generations.
