A central focus of ISVG is intergenerational knowledge transfer. Across Scouting, professional life and community service, individuals accumulate valuable knowledge through years of education, practice, leadership, problem-solving and lived experience. ISVG seeks to create structured opportunities for active and retired professionals, experienced Scout leaders, educators, specialists, trainers, researchers and other knowledge contributors to share this experience with younger generations.
This exchange may take many forms, including mentoring, seminars, webinars, workshops, training programmes, professional and technical discussions, publications, research, cultural exchange, community initiatives and digital learning. ISVG's international network also creates opportunities for knowledge developed in one country or profession to be shared with people in another.
Volunteerism remains central to this approach. ISVG encourages members to use their knowledge and abilities not only for personal development but also in service to their communities. Country organisations can translate this principle into locally relevant programmes while participating in wider regional and international cooperation.

Over the longer term, ISVG seeks to strengthen structured lifelong learning and international knowledge exchange through its vision for the ISVG Open University, creating opportunities for experienced individuals to contribute to learning while making knowledge increasingly accessible across geographical boundaries.
