The collaboration aims to strengthen Nepal–China cooperation through education, vocational skills development, cultural exchange and initiatives supporting employment opportunities.

Event Date: 9 April 2025
Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

The International Scout Volunteer Group Nepal (ISVG Nepal) entered into a collaborative understanding with a Chinese cultural media organisation on 9 April 2025 in Kathmandu, with the aim of promoting Chinese language education, cultural exchange, youth empowerment and skills development in Nepal.

The initiative was reported by The Kathmandu Post and Singhadarbar, highlighting the potential of international cooperation to support education, cultural understanding and employment-oriented skills development.

Promoting Language Learning and Cultural Exchange

A central objective of the collaboration is to expand opportunities for Chinese language learning and cultural exchange between Nepal and China.

The proposed activities include language education for children, young people and adults, with particular consideration for communities where access to such opportunities may be limited.

The collaboration also seeks to strengthen mutual cultural understanding and encourage cooperation between educational institutions, local communities and relevant stakeholders.

Youth Empowerment and Skills Development

The initiative places emphasis on building the knowledge and practical capabilities of young people through vocational education, skills-based training and leadership development.

The proposed cooperation includes opportunities to strengthen employability, support economic empowerment and develop the capacity of ISVG Nepal volunteers.

These objectives reflect the importance of combining education, practical skills and international knowledge exchange to support meaningful community development.

Engagement with Local Governments and Communities

As reported by The Kathmandu Post, elected representatives from several local governments participated in an interaction with the visiting Chinese delegation in Kathmandu.

The discussions explored possibilities for introducing Chinese language education in local communities, including schools, and supporting cooperation with local institutions.

The proposed approach recognises the role of local governments, educational institutions and community organisations in identifying needs and facilitating suitable programmes.

Strengthening Nepal–China Cooperation

Beyond language education and skills development, the collaboration envisages opportunities for promoting cultural exchange, tourism and Nepalese handicrafts.

By encouraging institutional cooperation and people-to-people connections, the initiative aims to contribute to greater mutual understanding between Nepal and China.

Implementation and Regulatory Requirements

The proposed activities were subject to obtaining the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities in Nepal, including the Social Welfare Council.

At the time of the agreement, ISVG Nepal indicated its intention to proceed with programme implementation following the applicable approval processes and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Commitment to Knowledge Sharing and Community Development

The initiative reflects ISVG Nepal’s interest in building international partnerships that can support learning, volunteer capacity development, cultural understanding and community-oriented opportunities.

Through cooperation with national and international partners, ISVG Nepal seeks to encourage knowledge transfer, responsible volunteerism and sustainable community engagement.
